Living in Gloucester

Are you moving to Gloucester but have no idea how is it like?

Is it better to find smaller town or village in region instead of living in the city center? It depends from people requirements and personal preferences. Young people, especially who are looking for a job will definitely choose the city centre. For those who prefer peace and quiet, the Gloucestershire villages are the best choice.  If you are planning removals to Gloucestershire you will definitely find the best place for you but you should expect a bit higher house prices in Cheltenham.

Public transportHowever Gloucester is the county town of Gloucestershire, it is not the biggest. It has about 100 000 inhabitants. There is a lot of good shops, pubs and restaurants in the city centre which has good connection with surrounding areas. Gloucester has direct access to M5 motorway and to the A38. Parking in the centre does not have to be stressful as there is a lot of car parks and usually there is no problem with finding free space. For people that don’t have a car or prefer to travel using public transportation we have good news. Bus and train station are located next to each other. Travelling between two major towns – Cheltenham and Gloucester takes about 10 minutes by train which runs every 10 minutes.  There is also local bus transportation services operating across area.

Shopping, eating and drinking

Stores on the streetThere are a lots of good restaurants serving international cuisines. You can try best food from English, Greek, Indian, Chinese cuisine. There is also good choice of bars and pubs in the city centre but if you would like to try some good local ales you should find good pubs around Forest of Dean.

Most shops can be found at four major streets – Northgate, Southgate, Westgate and Eastgate – surprising names aren’t they? For local food and products you should look at market just off East Gate Shopping.
